Michael felt kids at a very young age could learn and would be able to perform complicated sets on the floor but developmental leagues just didn't and don't allow coaches to teach that way or kids to play that way, so he turned his attention to creating a competitive team where he could teach different offenses and defenses could encourage trapping defenses and where aggressive play would be rewarded and not discouraged. Well it turned out more kids and parents wanted this competitive type play since we went from 10 to 50 kids in one year. Defense is our style of play. Indy Hoosiers is known for its quick, trapping defenses and fast break style offense. Our kids are taught aggressive defense wins games and these kids have the heart to perform it.
The 2006 8/under 2nd Grade team did very well in 2006. They won Indiana AAU State Championship and placed 3rd at AAU Nationals in Memphis, TN. This team was undeafted going into Nationals and still has only lost one game by 2 points in their own grade.
The 2006 9/under 3rd Grade team also won Indiana AAU State Championship and did well at Nationals, placing in the top 20 in their first ever AAU Nationals.
2007 is expected to be even more dynamic. With the 3rd and 4th Grade boys having more experience than ever they are still looking at a very successful year and are still looking at top National Finishes. Our 2nd Grade team this year is still unbeaten against their own grade and could easily be a high placing National team. Were looking forward to continued success in 2007.
