2011 AAU NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

2011 12U-6th Gr AAU DIVISION I
Hampton, VA
BACK 2 BACK NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

Standing: Darien Logan, Michael Peterson, Evan Ohman, TJ Waldon, Paul Scruggs, Zach Gunn, Kris Wilkes, John Merriweather, Anothy Roberts
Front: Keegan Saben, Justin Roberts, Ethan Merriweather, Gary Trent Jr., Zac Owens

WOW!!!! I must say this is the biggest accomplishment in Indy Hoosier history to repeat as NATIONAL CHAMPIONS. It is so hard to win one but to do that twice with same core group back to back years is truly special. We again had the right recipe for success. Our kids and parents the last 2 years  have been so unselfish and WIN oriented. Noone complains about playing time, role, or accomplishments. They all cheer each other on and just want to WIN. I think this attitude has given us the edge in 2010 and 2011 and the proof is evident. Main players sat long minutes at a time with no attitude knowing that down the stretch the rest would be important. It surely was as the last day we played 2 very competitive games and were able to play kids tip to buzzer with no problem. This was truly a team VICTORY. Paul Scruggs, Ethan Merriweather, Kris Wilkes, Zach Gunn and Gary Trent made up a core group that has fallen short before and now have back to back titles. Zac Owens arrived last season and was part of the success. key additions this year were Justin Roberts, Evan Ohman, TJ Waldon and Keegan Saben. In Most cases addition may cause problems on a team but Our core group welcomed the help. Scruggs 6'2' and Gunn 6'3' were arguably the top front court in the tourney. Their defense scoring and rebounding was the foundation to our success. Props to Zach Gunn for a stealer week taking pressure off Scruggs upfront throughout the week until the last day when Scruggs was needed tip to buzzer in each game. Wilkes 5'10', Merriweather 5'8' and Trent 5'7' are always steady on both ends of the floor and part of our GLUE. These guys score when needed, always take care of the ball and are always playing great D and team ball. The addition of Roberts who has emerged as a Top PG In US at 5'8" with his ball handling-strength-defensive pressure and ability to assist and score in many ways, Evan Ohman who is a deadly shooter and can bring physical play at 6', TJ Waldon 5'11 who has found a defensive knitch and Keegan Saben 5'9.5 who added timely perimeter play, scoring, defense and rebounding helped propel us to another title. Again this was a great team Victory. Thanks to all parents for the extra help and organization....also FOR A GREAT COACHING STAFF AND THE TIME TO VIDEO, STUDY, SCOUT AND DEAL WITH A CRAZY HEAD COACH.   BACK 2 BACK...... WOW now lets Find a BIG and try to 3peat in Memphis. GO HOOSIERS!!!!!!!

FINAL FOUR
AAU 13U-7th Grade National Championships
2011 Memphis, TN
3RD PLACE

Standing: Michael Peterson, Paul Scruggs, Antoyne Jackson, ViJay Blackmon, Ryan Dickison, Eron Gordon, Brad Dickison & Eric Gordon Sr.
Front: CJ Hedgepeth, Chris Evans, Jordan Walker, Dujuan Thompson

Hoosiers went 7-1 on the week winning over teams from Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Virginia, Louisisana, and Florida. Only loss to the National Champions Louisiana Select team in semi finals who is lead by their 6'9" C Khalea Turner. Hoosiers were lead by Eron Gordon and Paul Scruggs in scoring and Paul Scruggs and Antoyne Jackson in rebounding. Gordon lit the scoreboard up in most games scoring 124 pts on the week. The 6th grader Scruggs followed with 101 pts. Viay Blackmon and CJ Hedgepeth gave excellent support on offense and hustle plays defensively throughout the week. Jordan Walker chipped in nicely often with timely offense and ball controll. Ryan Dickison and Antoyne Jackson were solid inside the whole week at both ends. Dujuan Thompson and Chris Evans' Defense was HUGE throughout the week and was big part of comeback win to advance to sweet 16. Awesome accomplishment to get to FINAL FOUR Nationally in 6th and 7th grade as kids get bigger and stronger. Thanks to Coaching Staff, Nurse Betty and All the Parent support that makes us who we are. INDY HOOSIERS.... Noone else can say they are the INDY HOOSIERS. Very Proud and Great work everyone. We are not done. 2012 we will be back at it. Players are already talking about the trip to Orlando along with the staff as we plan to add a Big and keep our team together. Go HOOSIERS !!!!!!!!!!!!

Memphis, Tenn.
Behind the back passes, blocked shots into the crowd, and dunks in traffic are all things one would expect to see at an NBA game, but surely not from 13-year olds.

Then again, 13U AAU Nationals is no ordinary event.

Stars of Tomorrow

The kids played their hearts out, coaches pulled their hair out, and family members in the stands cheered until their throats were sore all weekend. These kids truly cared about their team's success as evidenced by the pure joy shown in victory and by tears streaming down the faces of kids whose dreams of becoming national champions had been dashed.

Even NBA star Eric Gordon was in the crowd cheering on his younger brother Eron, who plays for the Indy Hoosiers. The Hoosiers would finish third, beating Each 1 Teach 1 Dynasty out of Florida in the consolation game. The hometown Memphis War Eagles finished fifth by taking out the Houston Defenders (sixth) in another Sunday consolation matchup.

Certainly some future household names were in this field leading their teams to strong finishes to their summer season. We look forward to seeing a lot of these players for many Julys to come.

Indy Hoosiers Slam Dunk AAU Nationals

Indy Hoosiers took our 3 state champion teams to the 2010 AAU Nationals all held the same 10-day span in July.  Class of 2016 were in Hampton, VA and completed with a 4TH PLACE National Finish.  This talented group put our 2016 class back on the AAU National map after placing 3rd and 4th in earlier years. With new talent joining we look to make another run in Memphis in 2011. Class of 2017 were held in Cocoa Beach, FL and we were crowned NATIONAL CHAMPIONS after placing 2nd, 3rd and 3rd in previous trips. After knocking on the door the last three years, Coach Peterson had the right group of talent and Team- First players and parents to get over the hump this year. Bringing back some of the of the nations top talent all on one team, look for this team to contend again in 2011. Class of 2018 were held in Detriot, MI and we brought home 3RD PLACE for the second straight year.  We are so proud of our 2018 Class for sticking together and nearly winning it two years in a row. Adding a piece or two to the team will propel them back into Final Four again in 2011.These finishes bring the Indy Hoosiers TOP 4 National Finishes up to 11 and State titles at 23 since our creation in 2005.  The Hoosiers have won and finished very high in Numerous other tourneys over the years but we measure success by winning our State and contending Nationally. GOOD JOB HOOSIERS!  Thank you this year to all of our awesome parents and assistant coaches who not only supported their team goals but supported Coach Peterson's Club goals as he attempted and succeeded in coaching all three teams in one week and got them all to the FINAL FOUR NATIONALLY!!! WE DID IT!!!!!! Special thanks to Joe Meek, Misael Castaneda, John Merriweather, Greg Wilkes, Gary Trent, Eric Gordon Sr, Brad Dickison, Mick Terrell, Dennis Wilkes and Sam Williams for all of your support, assistance and dedication throughout the year. You were all awesome this year.  THANK YOU!!

** These site have been regarded as the top recruiting sites in the country. Above  is the breakdown of where the players in our program landed. Indy Hoosiers does not contribute to or endorse these rankings.

  • 25% of all people you meet will NOT like you
  • another 25% will not like you - but could be persuaded to like you
  • yet another 25% will like you - but could be persuaded NOT to like you
  • the final 25% of people you meet will like and will always stand by you

Meaning, it is fruitless to try to get everyone to see you in the light that God does because they are not tied to your destiny.  Stick with the 25% of people that stand by you and watch God bless you with devine connections to others like them.
